We are looking for an Inspections and Maintenance Engineer for our Cambridge, Ontario operations.
JOB PURPOSE
The Inspections and Maintenance Engineer will support maintenance and inspections projects as a subject matter expert and field engineer. They will consolidate BWXT's knowledge and OPEX for steam generators, heat exchangers, and feeder inspections and implement consistent standards and ensure compliance across the maintenance and inspection scopes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Subject Matter Expert
- Become the subject matter expert on steam generator, heat exchanger, feeder components for the purposes of visual inspections and maintenance.
- Organize and consolidate knowledge and operational experience for BWXT and conduct training as the subject matter expert.
Tooling and Equipment Engineer
- Become the responsible engineer for maintenance tooling and visual inspection equipment.
- Investigate and implement new tooling solutions.
Inspection Test Plans
- Create Inspection Test Plans, test matrices, and procedures to ensure adherence to scope of work, contractual requirements, and CSA N285.4 requirements.
- Create, validate, and demonstrate inspection procedures to customers and regulatory bodies.
Customer and ANI Relations
- Represent BWXT Field Services opposite Customer and ANI for all inspection and maintenance related matters.
- Pre-deployment support:
• Review technical specifications and scope;
• Interpret drawings and requirements;
• Interpret and apply CSA and ASME Codes;
• Review OPEX and Lessons Learned;
• Create and/or review Inspection Test Plans for compliance;
• Create requisitions for consumables, parts and services (as required);
• Train trades and technicians (as required);
• Interact with regulatory authorities and customer representatives.
Project Execution support
- Deploy to sites as required to provide oversight or support.
Post Execution support
- Author or review inspection reports.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's of Applied Science in the field of Engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials or Metallurgy Engineering.
- A minimum of five (5) years of industry experience.
- Possess or working toward Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
- Experience with visual inspection of weld, components, and degradation mechanisms.
- Experience with ASME V and surface examination techniques.
- Highly proficient with reading and interpreting engineering and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with CRNs and B31.1.
- Must have experience with professional report writing.
- Must be willing and able to travel 20% to 30% of the time.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $78,000 and $121,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
