Inspection Services - Eddy Current Testing (ECT) Trainee
We are currently recruiting for an Inspection Services - Eddy Current Testing (ECT) Trainee for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
JOB PURPOSE
The Inspection Services - Eddy Current Testing (ECT) Trainee assists by undertaking routine technical assignments in support of more senior ECT technician employees.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
General Accountabilities
- Under close supervision and mentorship of more senior technician(s) or supervisor, assists with mock-up maintenance, general tool assortment and inventory.
- Participate in site execution of outage and inspection projects as a trainee.
- General NDE related tasks in the field.
- Support senior techs on pre-deployment activities.
- Accurately complete inspection forms, logs, records and check sheets required with guidance from the acquisition (ACQ) Operator.
- Assist with review of equipment prior to site deployment.
- Assist in setting up tests using a variety of test materials and equipment.
- Prepare equipment or hardware for operation.
- Execute parts of field tests with guidance from ET Level I or II employees.
- Adhere to all quality and safety standards and demonstrate a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Awareness of, and appreciation for, the process of Continuous Improvement.
- Under supervision, recognize process controls, set up, calibration and testing of equipment.
Additional Responsibilities assigned during Outage work
- Acquisition (ACQ) Trainee duties.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Technician/Technologist diploma: college graduate in an electrical, mechanical or NDE discipline or equivalent related experience (0 to 2 years).
- Level I NDT Technician with ECT certificate in progress.
- Up to 70% to 80% site work/travel expected.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to recognize and resolve conflict.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at start of employment is expected to be between $48,000 and $68,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
