JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our Procurement Engineering team in the role of Senior Technical Engineer/Officer in Design Engineering.
Reporting to the Manager of Design Engineering, this position is responsible to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to understand design inputs and requirements, schedules, finances and performance for the assigned projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide technical and process support to field work, under Projects, Work Order Holds and Project Control Center (PCC) actions;
- Initiate, prepare, and issue all required design documentation;
- Prepare design, calculations, design bills of material and address design related field issues;
- Provide advice and/or direction to Design Leads, review designs and sign Field Initiated Changes;
- Perform field inspections, acceptance and approvals;
- Prepare Design Change Packages such as Modifications, Temporary Modifications and Non-Identical Component Replacements;
- Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems;
- Work collaboratively with vendors to accept vendor designs and changes;
- Support engineering acceptance of modification turnovers;
- Provide Engineering Change Control guidance, provide active support to field issues and Field Initiated Changes, and facilitate a positive outcome with EPC vendors;
- Understand impacts on cost and schedule, and provide support to minimize impacts driving projects;
- Gather input from stakeholder departments and agencies to ensure project requirements are captured and detailed in the project documents.
- Maintain process compliance during project execution.
EDUCATION
- 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Computer).
- Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in design engineering as it relates to electrical, instrumentation, controls, software, fire, security, and power systems is an asset
- Experience in Procurement Engineering would be a strong asset.
- Ideal candidate will be Design Engineer / Design Team Lead qualified or previously qualified within OPG/Nuclear Industry
- Relevant work experience within design engineering and experience with Nuclear Codes and Standards would be ideal.
- Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations;
- Have experience and/or willingness to interface with vendors;
- Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environment where showing initiative and self motivation are assets;
- Proven track record on delivering results;
- Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision;
- Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) will be an asset;
- Candidates must be motivated to use technology and online platforms.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
