Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
The Engineering Programs, Drafting & Modelling Section of the Design Engineering Services Department is currently growing to respond to the needs of our nuclear portfolio including power generation utilities in Canada and Europe. We are looking for highly motivated drafting designers to:
- Perform an administration role or support the administration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms
- Perform drafting/designing and modeling tasks in the areas of mechanical, civil, electrical, structural and/or architectural design for nuclear power plants and/or similar facilities
- Interface effectively with engineers on multi-disciplinary projects
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise
- Other duties as assigned
What You Need to Succeed
- Diploma in Architectural, Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in one or more 2D/3D design packages including but not limited to:
- Autodesk Suite: AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Electrical, Raster Design, Revit, Navisworks, Inventor, BIM Collaborate
- AVEVA (PDMS) E3D Design, AVEVA P&ID, AVEVA Enterprise, AVEVA Point Cloud Manager
- SolidWorks, SharePoint, Solid Edge
- CATIA, MicroStation, Intergraph SmartPlant Review, Bentley ProStructures
- Knowledge of using 3D laser scanning equipment while doing field walkdowns and post processing of associated point cloud data to support brown field design projects would be an asset.
- Experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM) is required.
- Expertise in one or more specific areas of the following:
- Structural design of steel and concrete structures, connections, shop drawings and fabrication detailing
- Piping isometrics, piping modeling, and pipe support design
- Flow diagrams (P&ID & PFDs), and electrical/instrumentation wiring diagrams
- Mechanical details of machine(s) and similar components
- Electrical design of stations, single line and wiring diagrams
- Good understanding of Nuclear Quality Assurance requirements and applicable industry design standards is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, such as CSA, ASME, ASTM, ACI guides.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize assigned work and to coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
- Considered a specialist in one or more field of technology contributing to the success of the company
- Ability to work independently on a day-to-day basis
- Expertise in computer applications related to the field of technology
- Demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of peers and other team members.
- A period of 5 years minimum experience is considered necessary.
This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
