We are recruiting for a Parts Supply Specialistfor our location in Peterborough, ON.
Role Summary/Purpose:
The Parts Supply Specialist leads the overall technical, cost and schedule requirements on assigned contracts and is the customer and vendor interface to ensure Company’s resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution.
Accountabilities:
Inquiry to Order Phase
- Take the lead on spare parts quote/proposal opportunities including initiating the opportunity, identifying historical information related to the part and ensuring proposal deadlines are met:
- Launch job upon assignment from Team Lead;
- Prepare proposals for spare parts in accordance with company procedures and sales strategy;
- Coordinate the completion of cost estimates;
- Support contract negotiations with customers;
- Review purchase requisitions to assure scope is properly specified;
- Obtain vendor quotations for material and services;
- Review and analyze vendor quotes to ensure clarity and accuracy of technical and commercial items;
- Forward technical exceptions to team for review and internal disposition;
- Understand the different levels of review and approval required for a proposal and purchase order;
- Ensure timely and accurate estimates and price sheets using approved margins and cost contingencies;
- Escalate customer and/or vendor T&C exceptions to Team Lead and/or Manage
Order to Remittance Phase (OTR)
- Screen and evaluate incoming Customer Purchase Orders (PO) for accuracy;
- Facilitate DOA approval for PO acceptance;
- Schedule kickoff meetings to pass on all relevant documentation to the team who will oversee the job execution;
- Creation and management of job budgets;
- Customer reporting as required;
- Participate in coordinating / producing cost or schedule recovery / mitigation plans, as well as monitoring scope creep throughout the product life cycle;
- Proactively identify product risk, analyze solutions, and take decisive action to resolve issues;
- Follow proper product closure process;
- Maintain internal interface;
- Coordinate the shipment of free issue materials as required;
- Input status updates regularly in product tools in order to ensure visibility for team;
- Coordinate Warranty process, submit warranty budgets to Team Lead or Manager for approval;
- Report cost/schedule/quality risk or creep to Team Lead;
- Purchase assigned commodities and services (a wide variety of standard and special items) to proper specifications for function intended, from the best qualified supplier and assuring maximum return (lowest cost, highest quality, on-time delivery, etc.) for each dollar spent is obtained, all within ethical purchasing practices and Company policy;
- Review supplier bids for vendor selection;
- Purchase assigned commodities and services;
- Expedite open vendor orders
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience as a Project Coordinator, Project Manager, Commercial Rep, or Buyer.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited university, or, College Diploma in Business Administration with sufficient experience.
- Solid analytical skills (Excel).
- Proficient in most business related software applications.
- Some capability with regard to risk management and quality tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively within teams.
- Experience in Nuclear is an asset but not a requirement.
- Basic product knowledge and understanding of BWXT NEC ’s business processes including knowledge of department procedures and QAM/QPM.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $$68,000 and $96,000. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
