Radiation Safety Lead
Location: Saskatoon, SK
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establishing area-based and personal radiation monitoring program requirements, including developing and implementing
radiation protection and industrial hygiene policies, procedures, work instruction, documents, tools and radiation data
management systems.
- Defining the requirements for the calibration and maintenance of measuring devices and equipment and performing and
managing the regular calibration and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensuring records are appropriately documented and maintained to the Canadian Nuclear Safety and Control (CNSC) Regulations
and company standards.
- Conducting quarterly audits to monitor compliance with CNSC license requirements and monitoring users of radioactive
materials to ensure that Denison operations, equipment and facilities comply with Denison policy and procedures and achieve
“as low as reasonably achievable” (ALARA) principle of dose limitation.
- Reviewing radiation exposure levels and maintaining authority for suspending any or all operations if hazardous situations
involving radioactive materials arise.
- Serving as a subject matter resource to supervisors and employees on both routine and non-routine radiation protection risks,
the effective use and care of PPE and RPP equipment and contributing to job hazard analysis (JHAs).
- Developing and delivering radiation safety training for all Denison staff as part of standard orientation activities, along with job-
specific radiation safety training for workers and contractors whose duties occasionally expose them to radioactive materials.
- Evaluating data inputs through statistical analysis and trending along with performing calculations for shielding plans as required
for but not limited to installations, relocations or decommissioning of equipment, work tasks and workstations, and the safe
handling, storing, and disposal of radioactive materials or waste.
- Providing respirator fit testing and training as needed.
- Assisting in the incident management process, participating in incident investigations and corrective action activities.
- Developing procedures for the transportation and management of radioactive materials to/from the operations.
- Reviewing and maintaining an up-to-date inventory of radioactive and sealed sources and/or locations, ensuring that such
inventories are stored in appropriately secured environments, including but not limited to signage, space, security systems,
shielding, etc., and ensuring that emergency preparedness and response processes remain current, communicated and
understood.
- Preparing routine reports on industrial hygiene and radiological conditions and issuing required radiation protection program
reports to regulatory authorities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
