E.S. Fox Limited is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to support its project site in Bruce County, Ontario.
Summary of the Role:
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing the Company Health and Safety policies and programs, ensuring safe working procedures on company work sites and facilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Implements and oversee site safety program through continuous on-site monitoring during field execution.
- Consult with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained.
- Provide counsel and advice to Company management on all health and safety related matters.
- Coordinate and attend on-site health and safety meetings.
- Provide site Health and Safety training, indoctrination, orientation to employees.
- Provide WHMIS training.
- May chair or co-chair Health & Safety Committee.
- Thoroughly investigates lost time accidents/incidents and health and safety related complaints.
- Monitors return to work (RTW) programs.
- Generate H&S statistics and provide regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager.
- Perform weekly site inspections and monthly safety audits.
- Maintains daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks.
- Maintains safety records and documents.
- Maintain records of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
- Ensure compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations
- Ensure management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business.
- Work with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs.
- Maintain zero tolerance for on-the-job safety infractions.
- Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO 45001 standards and OHSA requirements.
- Ensure that environmental aspects within their sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements.
Key Requirements, Experience, and Skills:
- Post secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is recommended.
- NRSO (National Construction Safety Officer).
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred.
- Certified H&S trainer.
- Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations.
- Current CPR and First Aid training certification.
- Working at heights training certification.
- WHMIS, Fall Protection/Arrest, Lock out, Confined Space, TDG training.
- COR audit experience is an asset.
- Practical experience in construction site Health & Safety.
- Experience in monitoring modified work or return to work programs.
- Health & Safety Practices, Policies and Procedures are diligently communicated and adhered to.
- Zero lost time accidents.
- Accessible and available to management and employees with respect to H&S complaints and issues.
- Subject to security background check.
