Role & Responsibilities:
The Director, Contractor Management is a key leadership role within Supply Chain. Accountable for ensuring the application, compliance, and advancement of the Contractor Management program including the interface and execution of all requirements with those of the Director of Construction FSM requirements, including:
- Emergency Preparedness
- OSH
- Commissioning and Construction
- Engineering
- Legal and Ethics
- CNSC regulation requirements with respect to contractor / worker qualifications
- Security
- Environmental
- Supply Chain
- Quality
Leadership:
- Reporting up to the General Manager Supply Chain.
- Provide visible leadership of Program functionally and in the field.
- Will lead the Company’s Contractor Management Steering Group as Chairman to provide a coordinated and consistent companywide approach. Will maintain appropriate terms of reference to drive forward the program, maintain awareness and co-ordinate activities with leadership input and supports from all areas of the business.
- Lead and influence a highly specialized group of employees and work streams as defined by the program.
- Work with established project teams from various functions and stakeholders as appropriate for each of the key work streams under the program.
- Provide Contractor Management performance subject matter guidance and leadership.
- Build a team drawing from relevant functions under a matrix management approach to ensure performance oversight, sustainability, and continuous improvement of Contractor Management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A relevant University Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business Management, Commerce, Law and/or Occupational Health & Safety, 15+ years of experience in projects, contracting, Health and Safety, and supply chain management at a senior level, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a such capacity.
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in contracting, procurement and supply chain management, project management, safety, construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a senior management contracting/negotiating capacity.
- Extensive experience in project contracting in a complex, technical and regulated environment; Contracting lifecycles, Engineering/Procurement/Construction (EPC), Design & Build, Design-Bid-Build construction models and formation of complex, $multi million capital projects or programs.
- Will have ideally held roles over career that included direct field oversight and safety of contractors.
Abilities and Skills:
- Resolves highly complex and highly specialized and sensitive issues within the team, Business Mission and with contractors/sub-contractors.
- Developing relationships at senior levels.
- Must have significant demonstrable experience of delivering transformational change including robust process improvement practices and principles.
- Strong business sense and extensive knowledge and understanding of the industry’ risks and regulations.
- Ideally, experience in both private and public sectors including nuclear and as both client and contractor.
- Demonstration of managing and working within high performing integrated program or project teams.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, along with the proven ability to mediate and negotiate well.
- Excellent business judgement and savvy with a proven ability to make decisions under pressure that are of high consequence to risk, performance, and budget.
- Demonstrated management skills and experience including resource management, budgeting, planning and reporting, team building and relationship management.
- Strong written and verbal communications ability.
- Strong business ethics and process orientation.
Job/Industry Specific Knowledge:
- Strong business sense, extensive knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with working in a Nuclear or Regulated environment.
- Management of contracts and contractors’ performance in complex services, construction, technology or process-based industry.
- A robust understanding/qualification related to the Occupational Health & Safety (OHSA) in both provincial and federal jurisdictions.
