If you answered yes, our Pinawa, Manitoba location is looking to fill the role of Project Manager.The Project Manager reports to the Manager, Maintenance & Operations, and has overall responsibilities for managing all aspects of project execution in their portfolio (direct personnel reports, characterization, work planning, engineering, procurement, risk, schedule, stakeholder engagement, project closeout). The Project Manager is accountable for the complete delivery of large-scale, high-risk projects of critical significance at the Whiteshell Remediation Project, and characterized as multi-year in duration and involving a significant financial commitment.
What will you be doing?
- Ensuring safety is paramount in all activities and is accountable to ensure work is performed safely.
- Ensuring proper implementation of policies and effective supervision/oversight.
- Managing, coordinating, and administering the Program Execution projects from the conceptual stages through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up and project closeout.
- Managing the collective and individual performance of a project team through the establishment of project-related performance objectives, and the provision of both formal and informal performance feedback (appraisal) mentoring and guidance to ensure project(s) success.
- Defining roles and responsibilities, and managing performance, including discipline, appraisals and merit allocation.
- Providing constructive feedback including disciplinary action if required or the termination/re-negotiation of external contracts.
- Coordinating with other functional managers (e.g., Engineering, Safety & Licensing, Procurement, Quality Assurance, Planning and Control, Environmental, Radiation Protection and Skilled Trades) to ensure that functional resource requirements are planned in accordance with Program delivery requirements, and that Program specific aspects of functional resources are implemented.
- Securing external and internal resources to execute the project.
- Implementing the Quality Assurance Plan for Whiteshell Laboratories Decommissioning Project within the Program.
- Monitoring and reporting overall progress of projects within the Program, conducting reviews to verify outputs are aligned with plans, while ensuring that significant variance and trends are investigated.
- Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Degree from an accredited university in a discipline relevant to project management, engineering, business or commerce and an excellent track record for leading large projects to successful conclusion.
- Years of progressively responsible project experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in a senior or lead project capacity.
- Experience
- Five (5) to ten years' of construction and/or decommissioning relevant experience or equivalent.
- Established track record for project delivery and demonstrated team leadership.
- Experience in a nuclear facility or nuclear decommissioning is an asset.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Liaises and collaborates with other departments, colleagues and senior management.
- Develops excellent rapport with the client and other project stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and flexible relative to work assignments.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of process related to strategic planning, human resources, and the management of people.
- Strong general management skills, including planning, budgeting, resourcing, time management, negotiation skills, contract management and administration, and progress reporting for an executive audience.
- Sound knowledge of the National Building Code and National Fire Code and other relevant codes and standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
- Familiarity with the specific safety regulations, guidelines, standards and codes relevant to the decommissioning process.
- Knowledge and application of radiation protections principles, measurements and contamination control.
- Knowledge of CNL’s practices, procedures and organization.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Must possess normal physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting and mobility.
- Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.
- We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day - starting at 6 am.
