What will you be doing!
Demonstrating proficiency in the use and application of applicable codes, regulations, and by-laws.
Working from drawings and sketches as required.
Providing material take-offs and labour estimates.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
Determining how equipment works by looking at a diagram or blueprint.
Keeping up with new developments in the trade.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
Education
Must have completed apprenticeship training or equivalent and be qualified as Carpenter with an Interprovincial Red Seal ticket.
Experience
Trade-related mathematics, science, and communications.
Basic components of paint.
Equipment maintenance and use.
Preparation and application of interior/exterior coatings.
Paint failure: causes and prevention.
Spray painting.
Fundamentals of paper hanging and wall coverings.
Sketching and blueprint reading.
Decorative painting, stippling, glazing, blending, and lining.
Wood finishing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Conscientious about accuracy.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and respond with initiative.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
Good comprehension skills to interpret drawings and code specifications.
Good planning and organizational abilities.
Teamwork skills when working on large projects with co-workers.
Knowledge of metallurgy and the effectiveness of the equipment being used.
Problem solving abilities to change installation techniques to on-site working conditions.
Hand Tools and Safety.
Prepare the foundations of buildings.
Install beams, girders and footing forms.
Build stairs and stair forms.
Concrete Forming and Foundations.
General Framing and Heavy Timber Construction.
Stair Building, Cabinet Layout and Construction.
Carpentry in Masonry Construction.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
Working Conditions:
We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day - starting at 6 am.
Must possess normal physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting and mobility.
Ability to wear and work in a respirator and other protective equipment.
Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.
Must be able to work in extreme outdoors temperatures ranging from +30°C to -40°C.
Some exposure to nuclear radiation and industrial hazards.
