The Role
Cameco is looking for a motivated, team-oriented professional who values integrity, safety and the environment and strives to incorporate those values into their everyday achievements. As a sr. contract specialist, you’ll play a key role on project teams in the execution of capital expenditure projects.
In this role, you will:
- As a member of the project procurement team, you will work closely with capital project teams, contracts administrators and site stakeholder teams to plan and execute procurement and contracting activities
- Guiding and advising stakeholders on procurement best practices and solutions to achieve project deliverables
- Collaborate with project teams to develop sourcing and contracting strategies for all goods and services needed to deliver assigned projects
- Develop and initiate requests for information, quotations and proposals, evaluating bids, completing award recommendations, contract conformance and execution in compliance with Cameco’s policies, standards and codes
- Consul with internal legal counsel to negotiate terms and conditions and advise stakeholders.
- Negotiate and resolve disputes with vendors and contractors
- Responsible for coaching and mentoring the team members on best practices and work processes.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or engineering
- A minimum of seven years of experience, specifically in supply chain management
- Extensive experience in negotiating, developing, and executing large contracts for consulting services , construction, and complex equipment.
- Procurement experience supporting capital projects, applicable bidding experience in the Canadian Market and excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
Recommended:
- A Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or another comparable designation
- Previous experience with SAP or Similar ERP System
