The Role
The role of the radiation department is to administer and monitor the site radiation protection program, and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. As a senior member of the radiation department, the specialist role will report directly to the radiation coordinator and will be responsible for providing technical and analytical expertise to both the radiation department and site stakeholders. You will work collaboratively within the department and engage stakeholders on improvement opportunities and initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical and analytical support, maintenance and quality assurance for the radiation program.
- Support radiation department objectives which include job hazard analyses, sampling, completing incident investigations, managing radiation monitoring data and generating reports.
- Investigate and assess emerging technologies related to measuring and monitoring of radiation and its suitability to the uranium industry.
- Develop innovative tools and solutions to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the current program.
- Engage site stakeholders in developing creative ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) initiatives.
- Collaborate on new technology solutions and act as lead in identifying opportunities for improvement on all technical matters within the department.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering physics or a related science
- Three to five years of relevant work experience
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Strong computer skills
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Previous work experience with radiation protection principles and data analysis techniques
