The Role:
The Production Manager is responsible for the optimal conduct of production (manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test activities), and for coaching the work team to ensure that products are assembled and tested according to standards, technical specifications, quality requirements, and program schedule milestones.
Job Responsibilities:
• Manage all functions in the department including a second shift.
• Coordinate with Program Management to understand manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test needs for each Program schedule
• Establish production schedule and assign production staff accordingly
• Coordinate production operations in accordance with material, labour, and equipment availability.
• Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery
• Reviews program requirements, assessment of constraints and resolution of operational conflicts
• Monitors and expedites resource and operational availability within our quality standards
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and calibration of in-house equipment in the labs (including equipment such as: machine shop; vibration table; thermal-vacuum chamber; tensile testing; amongst others)
• Support the team through hands-on involvement on production floor focusing on overall safety and process improvements
• Performs leadership duties of operations within the context of his/her specified areas and with knowledge of the company's collective agreements
• Interfaces and communicates with Program Managers as required on critical failures and recovery plans; uses production expertise to support Material Review Boards when corrective action is required
• Initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
• Coaches, trains and actively participates in the development of the skills of the staff
• Contributes to Capital Investment projects including process approval, CapEx justification, quoting, project plan development, and project implementation
• A lean leader that leads and supports continuous improvement activities
Minimum Job Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Operations/Production Management, Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of industry experience in related field.
• Proven experience managing production teams (quality, cost and schedule sensitive)
• Experience in complex systems integration to mission critical standards, such as space, aerospace, defence, medical, etc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Familiar with interpreting project schedules
• Management and leadership skills.
• Advanced interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of electronic and mechanical technologies and methods involved in space hardware production is an asset.
• Excellent understanding of planning tools and ERP logic. Knowledge of planning, purchasing, finance, and ERP system modules and understanding of how these modules interrelate is an asset.
Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the Reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.

The compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
