Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
You will provide oversight to the maintenance engineering group, supervising a diverse team of engineers and technologists. Your knowledge of equipment and engineering design will be relied upon to support the mining operation at Cigar Lake.
In this role, you will:
- Provide technical and troubleshooting expertise for maintenance functions.
- Lead execution of maintenance shutdowns and maintenance expense projects on site as well as assisting with identification and budgeting of those items.
- Play a lead role in the development and execution of Cameco’s predictive maintenance program and reliability culture, working alongside the Asset Management and Reliability team.
Required:
- bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preference in a mechanical discipline;
- a minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering and supervisory experience in heavy industry;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered;
- you must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
- strong communication and problem-solving skills;
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft;
- experience in an operational environment;
- experience directly supervising people in an industrial environment;
- experience overseeing team operations and guiding staff to achieve performance goals;
- experience participating in strategic planning of departmental goals to align with organizational priorities;
- experience with SAP S4/HANA;
- experience with Bentley Assetwise or equivalent asset management software;
- experience interpreting the results of mechanical integrity inspections; and
- experience contributing to maintenance budgeting and cost forecasting.
Recommended:
- experience and/or training in development and execution of reliability programs; and
- CMRP or MMP designation.

The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
