Overview
Reporting to the Director of Bids and Proposals for Nuclear Canada, the Bid Manager-Major Projects will lead, direct, and coordinate a proactive Bid Team to create and deliver professional, compliant, and competitive proposals for the Nuclear Canada Business Unit.
You role
- Lead and manage the full proposal lifecycle—including resource allocation—to deliver high‑quality, competitive, and compliant submissions for major, strategic, and interdivisional opportunities.
- Support forecasting and budgeting activities for the proposal team, and provide data analysis on bid trends to guide decision‑making.
- Collaborate with Account Managers and General Managers to set bidding priorities, maintain visibility into the proposal pipeline, and represent the team in daily bid/no‑bid meetings.
- Provide training and leadership on proposal methodologies and best practices (e.g., PAS, APMP), ensuring consistency in style, quality, and bid development processes.
- Drive continuous improvement by enhancing tools, templates, workflows, and the Bid Development & Contract Acceptance Process, incorporating lessons learned and industry standards.
- Improve operational efficiency through process optimization, streamlining, and implementing Director‑advised initiatives to increase agility and win rates.
- Lead the performance management and professional development of proposal team members, including coaching, evaluations, training recommendations, and salary reviews.
- Ensure strict compliance with corporate policies, ethics, quality standards, audits, and conduct compliance and quality reviews—including L0B proposals and Level 1 approval presentations.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Engineering, Journalism, English, or related field; Master's degree considered an asset.
- 5–10 years of experience developing and managing proposal submissions, plus 1–5 years of people‑management experience (hiring, coaching, performance reviews).
- Proven experience leading proposal teams for large‑scale bids within engineering or professional services, including hybrid and remote team management.
- Extensive knowledge of proposal management methodologies; APMP membership/certification preferred.
- Strong capability in developing and executing strategic initiatives and managing key partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings, guide large/virtual teams, and brief senior leadership on progress and risks.
- Skilled in influencing at senior levels and navigating internal governance requirements.
- Ability to coach SMEs in persuasive writing and proposal best practices; highly results‑driven with strong time‑management, prioritization, and quality standards.
