Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future.
The Role
The Key Lake mill operations group performs numerous activities, including the safe operating the mill, training, preparing equipment for maintenance, and cleaning work areas, all while achieving production targets. The coordinator, mill operations will assist the general supervisor, mill operations with coordinating shutdown and area outage activities for the mill operations team. This role will also be responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of a small group of labourers to safely plan and execute continuous improvement and 5s activities throughout the mill. Excellent leadership and communication skills to bring the departments together, lead meetings and provide guidance to front-line supervisors is required.
In this role, you will:
- Lead a small team of labourers to execute 5S projects throughout the mill.
- Assist the mill general supervisor with planning and organizing area outages.
- Plan, lead, and execute continuous improvement projects throughout the mill.
- Identify opportunities and assist with process optimization across the mill.
Required:
- technologist diploma in any discipline;
- five to eight years of work experience, ideally in a mine or mill setting;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
- leadership skills and the ability to lead a small team; and
- work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
- lean Greenbelt certification;
- ability to apply fundamentals of lean philosophy (5S, value stream mapping, etc);
- experience using SAP based maintenance applications; and
- MS Project or other scheduling tool experience.

The Key Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
