Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. The Role
Reporting to the Sr. Engineer, Mine, you will be a key communicator between the Technical Services and Mine Operations teams and help to manage operation’s expectations and scope changes through active communication. Expectations are carrying out a variety of duties, both in the field (underground and on surface) as well as in the office, in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities will include underground survey and monitoring of development and production areas, concrete testing, and some surface survey jobs.
In this role, with safety as your core value, you will focus on high quality results and provide direction and guidance to ensure:
- Performance and verification of accurate survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted in the field, field redesign as necessary, accurately record data and properly file drawings and associated documents
- Creation of driving layouts and other mine drawings under direction of the design engineer and will prepare and maintain daily sketches, maps and drawings to accompany regularly issued reports
- Liaise with Technical Service and Mine Operations to coordinate field survey work, timeline requirements, and priorities
- You will be able to work independently, to communicate effectively with coworkers to plan work Adequate mine ventilation through conducting underground mine ventilation surveys, reports, and deficiency lists
Required:
- Technical diploma in mining or related field
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- A minimum of two years of survey experience in an underground mining environment
- Fully proficient working with survey equipment and software such as Total Stations and GPS
- Knowledge performing and processing stope and cavity laser scans
- Experience drafting with Deswik/Vulcan/AutoCAD
- Problem solving and analytical skills in a field environment with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Underground mine engineering functions (drafting, ventilation, geotechnical monitoring)
- Raisebore drilling and long hole stope mining, CMS/CALS scans
- Concrete testing
- Aerial drone survey experience
