The Role
Cameco’s exploration department is tasked with the responsibility of discovering the next uranium deposit to support the sustainability of our vision of energizing a clean-air world. At Cameco exploration we strive for geoscientific excellence and promote innovation. The geophysical team within exploration applies industry-leading technology and methodologies in the search for Cameco’s next discovery. We regularly work with electromagnetic, electrical, and potential field data, and offer continued learning and professional growth opportunities.
In this role, you will:
- Be part of an integrated project team, under the direction and guidance of experienced geophysicists
- Be involved in the collection, interpretation, and integration of geophysical and geological data critical for making Cameco’s next discovery
- Oversee the execution of geophysical field programs in various remote locations across northern Saskatchewan
- Ensure contractor compliance with all of Cameco’s safety, health, environment, and quality policies
- Support project teams and assist in the understanding of geophysical data, geotechnical logging of drill core and collection of surface or downhole geophysical data in the field
This is a one-year temporary staff position.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics or a related scientific field
- Eligibility for registration as a Geoscientist-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Writing and communication skills are required to ensure accurate reporting and presentation of results
- Valid driver’s license
Recommended:
- Previous mineral exploration or geological experience
- Previous field experience with a geophysical service provider
- A basic knowledge of modelling, inversion, and 3D-visualization software
- First aid certification
