The Role
The technical services department is a talented team of engineers that work on impactful projects essential to Cameco’s success. As a member of the technical services department, you will report to the Sr. Engineer, Mechanical, providing mechanical engineering and technical solutions for mining, milling and process controls problems.
In this role, you will:
- Perform various mechanical engineering and design tasks
- Perform analysis of process systems involving piping, pumping, pressure vessels, tanks and HVAC
- Perform preliminary equipment sizing for pumps, vessels, tanks, and HVAC
- Provide design support for smaller capital and expense projects
- Update and revise technical specifications, datasheets and reports
- Support the development of utility PFDs, P&ID’s and drawings for cost estimation, construction, and turnover
- Support the construction and commissioning processes through RFI’s and field presence as required
- Be responsible for applying applying corporate policies, procedures, technical and safety standards, and regulations (Federal provincial, corporate and SHEQ) in your day-to-day work
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 1 to 3 years of relevant industry experience in engineering, fabrication or construction
- Solid understanding of MS Office software, including proficiency in Excel
- Occasionally travel to project sites in Northern Saskatchewan and Ontario
Recommended:
- Experience with mechanical analysis software such as AFT Fathom, Caesar II, or Carrier HAP
- Experience with drawing management and review software such as Bluebeam
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards like ASME B31.3, CSA B51, ASME BPV VIII, and API 620
- Interest or experience in industrial automation, lean principles and value engineering
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Surface and underground mining experience
