The Position:
MDA Space is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer at the Jr. MTS to MTS/Engineer level in the field of Cable Harness Design on our Robotics & Space Operations team at our Brampton office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Electrical Engineering Department in a variety of tasks. As a member of the Electrical Engineering Team you will work in the Logistics & Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program (to support On-Orbit Space Station activities), and/or the Gateway External Robotics System (GERS) program, and/or the planetary/lunar rovers’ programs, and/or R&D activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The interested candidates do not need to be experienced in all areas below but should demonstrate knowledge or experience in these areas:
- Prepare cable harness designs (wiring schematics) for space and terrestrial systems
- Good understanding of cable design analysis such as Signal Integrity, Voltage Drop, cross-talk, Cable Bundling, bend radius & EMC.
- Prepare system-level Power, Grounding and Bonding architectures
- Experience with environmental testing and designing cables for TVAC, thermal, EMC, & vibration environments
- Good understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and NASA-STD-8739.4 standards
- Understanding of FMEA, SEE Criticality Analysis, Cumulative Dose, Radiation Effects Mitigation, & Charging
- Develop production, assembly and parts list drawings
- Design cable mechanisms for rotary interfaces
- Perform cable routing and 3D modelling
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
- Understand the client’s requirements
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams
Assets:
- Knowledge of geometrical tolerancing and drawing standards
- Knowledge of space sector
- Experience with Siemens NX, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MS Visio
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics/Applied Mathematics, or Engineering Science is an asset. (Candidates with a Technologist diploma may also apply.
- Candidates will be considered for the Junior, Intermediate and/or Designer levels based on their years of experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience is required
- Strong oral, written and verbal communication skills
- Result orientated and exhibits critical thinking skills
- Works well in a dynamic environment and to a specific set of requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with a high level of integrity
Comments/Special Considerations:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $78,000 - $104,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
