Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
Cameco is looking for a motivated individual to join our production and technical services team at the Cigar Lake operation in northern Saskatchewan. As a member of the production and technical services team, you will be responsible for the safe operation of our site’s ammonia freeze plants.
In this role, you will:
- Start/stop compressors as required, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and conduct operator care rounds in a variety of environments
- Assist in the operation and oversight of the freeze well system, maintaining daily coordination and communication with supervisors and trades personnel as needed
- Enter daily reports into a computerized database
- Create work orders and notifications in SAP
Required:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Refrigeration Engineer certification; must be registered with TSASK as a Refrigeration Engineer or able to obtain registration within 6 months of start date
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating a refrigeration plant, preferably an ammonia-based system
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent safety record
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- 3rd year Power Engineering or 3rd year (or greater) Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanic
- Experience with SAP, SIGGA, Bentley, or similar software
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office/MS365 software

The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
