The Role
As a member of the Technical Services Delivery team, reporting to Sr Engineer, Mechanical, you will provide mechanical engineering and technical solutions for mining, milling, process control problems and provide design support for capital and expense projects.
In this role, you will:
- Perform various mechanical engineering and design tasks consisting of major equipment sizing, industrial process pumping and piping design, building services, HVAC system analysis and sizing, development of technical specifications, data sheets, drawings, and technical reports.
- Support the delivery phase of projects through the design, construction, and commissioning stages. Provide discipline oversight when required.
- Work with mechanical technologists in developing intelligent 3D process plant equipment and piping layout designs, intelligent P&IDs and HVAC schematics.
- Be responsible for mechanical scope development, engineering execution planning, and capital cost estimating to support business cases over the asset life cycle.
- Ensure that design work is completed in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements (Federal, Provincial, and corporate SHEQ).
- Be responsible for developing and integrating mechanical design standards for Cameco and mentoring other mechanical engineers and technologists. Projects will be based at Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan sites and Ontario operations. Travel occasionally by aircraft to these locations will be required.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with preference towards a mechatronics option.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Minimum 4-8 years of relevant industry experience. Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and collaborative teamwork skills.
Recommended:
- Design knowledge and exposure to various fields of mechanical engineering, including but not limited to rotating equipment, (ie. Pumping), piping, tanks, pressure vessels, electromechanical systems, building services, industrial (underground mining and mill) ventilation, dust collection systems.
- Experience in ASME codes and standards, BPV codes, API codes, CSA standards, ASHRAE, ACGIH, National Codes and other relevant standards, acts and regulations.
- A solid understanding of MS Office software is necessary, including proficiency in Excel. Knowledge of piping hydraulic simulation software, piping stress analysis software, and drawing management software (Bluebeam), will be an asset.
- Experience in the mining or milling industry.
- Experience in lean principles and value engineering.
- Interest and or experience in data driven smart 3D modelling would be an asset.
- Integration knowledge in the industrial automation and mechatronics field would be considered an asset.
