The Role
As a member of the Cigar Lake radiation team, you will assist in ensuring compliance for the radiation protection program throughout the operation.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct routine radiation monitoring to meet requirements of all applicable regulations and ensure equipment being used for dosimetry is functioning properly
- Collect, maintain, and record radiation data from the underground and surface facilities which includes reviewing new information and National Dose Registry (NDR) codes
- Assess working conditions pertaining to radiation protection for the safety of all workers and determine appropriate safety precautions
- Solve problems related to source detection and ventilationPrepare weekly reports and issue radiation work permits
Required:
- Radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or a post-secondary education in a science related field
- Three to five years of applicable work experience with radiation protection principles
- Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
- Working knowledge of radiation protection principles
- Work independently and as part of team with safety as a core value
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Underground mining experience, specifically at a uranium mine site
