CANDU Energy Inc./ AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is actively seeking a qualified Intermediate Civil CAD Designer to support engineering roles for nuclear projects in major areas, such as, new build in the province of Ontario, international new builds, refurbishment, and continuous plant operation support modifications for nuclear power plants.
Location - Mississauga, ON
Your role within the team:
- Reviewing the status of existing buildings prior to project design, performing site take offs.
- Assist in developing designs and technical specifications for systems such as Heating, Air conditioning, Ventilation, boilers, plumbing, chilled water, building controls, along with other related systems.
- Assisting others in the office with several projects – a knowledge sharing atmosphere.
- Coordinating system requirements with the electrical department, architects, relevant authorities.
- Assist in developing feasibility studies and technical reports.
- Prepare electronic documents in AutoCAD and/or Microstation; Sketching, and three-dimensional computer modeling.
- Follow client driven file management system for document storage.
- Prepare engineering deliverables for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. / Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.
- Apply relevant Codes & Standards and regulatory requirements and coordinate with design team to ensure the compliances.
- Interface with Engineering teams, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.

The Ideal Candidate:
- College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 5 years in mechanical design and drafting.
- Working knowledge in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Raster Design, Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Micro Station, NavisWorks Freedom and Teckla.
- Ability to take marked up engineering drawings and incorporates changes into AutoCAD files.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff in a team environment as well as independently.
- ASME Code knowledge considered an asset
