About Us
The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon, United and AtkinsRealis located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064.
Reporting to the Sr Project Controls Manager, the Planning Manager will support the project in the development and maintenance of the project schedules on the FCFR project and developing the schedules and related schedule performance reporting for the current and subsequent phases of the project.
What You'll Do Here
- Overall responsibility for compliance of assigned projects with project controls standards - both from applicable contract documents and from Shoreline project controls policies/guidelines.
- Oversee production of a detailed, resource-loaded schedule in Primavera
- Oversee the review and analyze the project scheduling and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within anticipated cost and schedule.
- To prepare and regularly update Planning and Scheduling plans and procedures: issue special Planning and Scheduling instructions, as required.
- To manage all the project office planning and scheduling functions, systems and procedures to assure definition, determination of schedule status and progress, and analysis of schedule trends for effective project management.
- To inform relevant project personnel on schedule performance and manhours status
- To produce reports and graphics for earned value reporting, time-based incentive status
- Preparing complex engineering and construction schedules for nuclear outage/shutdown projects
- Manage efforts to ensure continuity between project estimates and project baseline
- Monitor the project performance and ensure that all the project control system is properly implemented.
- Oversee the review and analyze the project control reports (i.e. progress and productivity) with the project
- Preparing reports for management regarding project scheduling activities and performance
- Maintaining liaison with project management regarding scheduling activities and assisting them in determining schedule priorities
- Provide timely feedback to project managers with regards to activities trending away from the set plan
- Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance report (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc),
- Train the project team on how to implement the change management procedures.
- Responsible to establish a change management system in compliance with contract conditions and Shoreline’s procedures; monitor and enforce the change management system for assigned projects
- Ability to supervise and mentor scheduling staff
- Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings
- As required, produce custom reports per request of customer or internal management
- Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to Shoreline’s project controls policy & guidelines
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring To The Team
- 10-15 years of related planning & scheduling experience
- Possess post-secondary education i.e. diploma or degree B.A., B.Sc., B.Eng., B.Com, PMP, AACE, or possess equivalent relevant industry experience in senior roles within project controls and or project management
- Ability to mentor senior and intermediate scheduling staff and work with senior project cost controller
- Strong background in Schedule Delay Analysis (delay claims, extension of time requests)
- Nuclear outage experience is preferred
- Experience in an EPC environment is preferred
- Advanced knowledge and experience in Primavera is required
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Power BI)
- Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control
- Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details are required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees
- People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients
