Position and Responsibilities
As a key member of the SHEQ team, you provide guidance ensuring consistency and compliance with safety regulations, standards as well as Cameco policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include performing internal procedural compliance assessments, implementing or assisting with implementation of new corporate health and safety standards, conducting investigations and inspections of work areas, ensuring work practices and equipment on site meet or exceed health and safety standards, participating in safety committees as required, technical support to other departments as well as managing day to day issues as they arise.
Education and Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in health and safety
- Experience in safety and/or industrial hygiene in an industrial setting
- Familiar with the Canada Labour Code; aware of current and emerging occupational safety issues
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft programs
- Able to build relationships
Assets:
- Certified registered safety professional
- Experience working within a unionized environment
