Your role within the team:
- Reporting to the Deputy Program Director, the Project Manager shall be accountable for the delivery of discrete portions of key scope. Staff will be matrixed into Project Manager’s teams from throughout the program from functional teams that play a part in the delivery of these key scopes.
- Responsible for the successful delivery of the assigned scope throughout all stages of the Preliminary Design phase of the CANDU MONARK program.
- Ensures the safe delivery of the assigned scope while meeting quality standards, as well as cost and schedule requirements.
- Negotiate subcontract agreements, ensuring terms and conditions are favourable and compliant.
- Track subcontractor progress and performance, ensuring they meet program standards and deadlines.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with subcontractor activities.
- Ensure all subcontractors adhere to relevant regulations and company policies.
- Keep detailed records of subcontractor agreements, performance metrics, and compliance reports.
- Act as the primary point of contact between subcontractors and the program team.
- Ensure subcontractor activities are well-coordinated with the overall program plan.
- Manage budgets related to subcontractor activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Arrange timely payments to subcontractors based on performance and milestones.
- Lead initiatives to improve subcontract management processes and efficiency.
- Liaise and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate:
- Degree qualified in Engineering or Science based discipline, and/or hold a professional Project or Program Management related qualification.
- Minimum 8 years of nuclear industry experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
- Minimum 3 years of contract management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing and leading a technical team to high performance in a project-centric environment.
- Strong background CANDU technology design.
- Extensive knowledge of nuclear project work, project management, estimating and employee relations required.
- Strongly preferred candidate with familiarity with CANDU sites.
- Must also have or be able to hold Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status.
- Must have the ability to handle all matters in a confidential and professional manner.
- Accountable for fiscal performance of assigned scopes/budgets. This includes developing creative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining quality and schedule.
- Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills. A critical skill required for this position is the ability to clearly articulate an issue, the impact, and the steps to resolve.
- Negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
