As a key team player, you will support our Nuclear Equipment Solutions teams a Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager.
Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Reporting to the Section Manager for CGD, manage technical and analytical support for multiple projects of varying complexity to ensure work is completed on schedule, on-budget and to the required quality standards.
- Conduct programs of advanced research, testing, investigation, qualification and commercial grade dedication directed towards the application of manufacturing, testing of nuclear parts and equipment to assure safety and reliability of critical parts in nuclear power plants.
- Prepare test procedures for functional testing, and factory acceptance testing to a high degree of accuracy and meeting the requirements of Kinectrics quality program.
- Manage tests, investigations and troubleshooting efforts regarding fabrication of nuclear parts and systems complying with nuclear quality program requirements.
- Apply recognized Project Management methodology to ensure projects are managed effectively (e.g. managing scope, time, cost, performance, communication, human resources, contracts, materials, risks and quality).
- Investigate incidents of in-service failures or test failures or unsatisfactory performance, resolving the issue to the satisfaction of our customers.
- Assist in the negotiation and administration of contracts, including estimates of costs, schedule, and resources required. Carry out customers’ work; prepare timely reports with recommendations based on results achieved.
- Lead teams, who participate in various projects and provide technical supervision as required with effective problem solving.
- Ensure customer satisfaction with timely communication and project controls.
- Perform procurement engineering activities, resolving QA issues and ensuring schedules are met.
- Manage small and large scale (+1M$) projects, understanding competing priorities and deadlines.
- Discuss with senior staff of external customers, in conjunction with the Department Manager, the strategy or plans that are required to solve complex or controversial problems and support the client group’s operation.
- Assist in actively marketing/selling the technology/services of the business to ensure products remains viable and competitive.
- Prepare short form quotations and large complex proposals.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
Essential Competencies:
- Strong customer orientation and commitment to Kinectrics and Business Unit goals.
- Demonstrated skill in contract management and administration with positive track record of completing projects on budget and schedule in terms of client satisfaction.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative to propose and implement new ideas.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary team situations with a variety of partners and diverse issues and roles.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects of varying complexity and technical disciplines.
- Strong oral and written communications.
- Proven skills with a variety of software programs including MS Office, and MS Project.
Essential Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience in testing work programs, services, scheduling and associated costs.
- Experience in testing of equipment / components and materials found in nuclear power plants and the use of sophisticated equipment for test work.
- Practical experience in the design and development of sophisticated equipment and instrumentation for testing would be an asset.
- Knowledge and interpretation of national and international standards as they apply to this field.
- Knowledge of nuclear quality program and testing requirements
- Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance standards
- Strong understanding and commitment to HU principles with preference to nuclear station experience in HU culture preferred.
- Must have excellent communications, technical report writing and oral presentation skills.
- A four-year university education engineering or equivalent is required with mechanical or chemical engineering preferred.
- A period of up to four years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
