Candu Energy Inc. is looking to hire a Buenos Aires office Engineering Director for a full-time regular position. This role, in support of Cernavoda 3 and 4 New Build and Monark development program, is responsible for delivering the internal engineering work and reports to the VP and Sr. Director, Candu International.
Location - Mississauga, ON
This position requires a short-term relocation to our Argentina office.
Your role within the team:
- Requires a 18-24 month assignment to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
- Responsible for the utilization of the engineering personnel assigned to him/her.
- Responsible for the technical integration and interface control both within the internal client projects and the different technical groups present in the Buenos Aires office, such as Piping, Nuclear Process Design, Deterministic Safety Analysis, Probabilistic Safety Analysis and Instrumentation and Control.
- Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are working on the project and are assigned work within their experience and skills.
- Provide guidance, technical insights, supervision and feedback to the Engineering Managers that are part of his/her team.
- Oversight of technical deliverables budget, schedule and quality.
- Ensure that the final deliverables meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards.
- Review and approve or delegate the approval of key technical documentation under his supervision.
- Identifying and proposing improvements in the functioning of the organization – both proactively and in response to changes in the business environment.
- Liaise with external clients at the behest of the Project Engineering Directors regarding the technical matters.

The ideal candidate:
- University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
- At least 15 years of applicable engineering experience including applicable experience prior to engineering management roles.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, qualified to seal engineering documents in a relevant field of engineering, or eligible to obtain for such registration within 6 months of hiring.
- Sound knowledge of multiple engineering fields and of nuclear technologies.
- Demonstrated skills in the management engineering scopes of work on complex technical projects, leadership, and project management of a highly technical group.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
- Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent client focus and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated business acumen – the ability to think, plan and negotiate strategically with a strong commercial orientation and good understanding of financial measurements.

Additional, preferred qualifications:
- At least 10 years applicable experience working on CANDU® and/or LWR technologies.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance.
- Experience in executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
- Experience in managing sub consultants and work sharing with other offices within a company or joint venture.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminology.
- Working knowledge of Canadian and EU regulatory practices.
