What you will be doing!
- Providing administrative support for Regulatory Affairs Manager and staff members and setting up various meetings, including monthly CNSC/CNL meetings (internal & external), travel arrangements, and CNSC public hearing/meeting arrangements (licence renewal, amendments, Regulatory Oversight Reports (ROR) etc.) - creating agendas, pre-meeting sessions, rehearsal meetings, post- meeting work and other tasks.
- Managing day to day activities for the Regulatory Affairs branch.
- Providing reports on financial activities for the branch. Preparation of annual budget and issuance on time to line management, as required.
- Providing backup to the Regulatory Assistant position for the branch when required (e.g., tracking CNSC inspections, regulatory actions, generating various reports, etc.).
- Coordinating items between Regulatory Affairs and Candu Owner Group (COG) for CNL.
- Completing training as required for annual staff appraisal and as per CNL mandatory requirements.
- Database management: maintaining hard and electronic copy filing systems and ensuring efficient document storage and retrieval. Performing spreadsheet and database updates. May also involve elements of inventory management, including the preparation of all shipping/purchasing documentation.
- Organizing, prioritizing, assembling, editing, and formatting documents to make them consistent, accurate and valuable; expedite these, when required, to internal and external customers before the established deadlines.
- Tracking financial data such as expenses against budget, for the department and other projects as needed, and reports on variances as per given guidelines.
- Assisting in preparing, reviewing and releasing the Compliance Controlled List Document (LST).
- Participating in the production and submission of the CNL and CRL Annual Compliance Monitoring Reports (ACMR) to the CNSC.
- Comparing changes in the revisions of the CRL License Condition Handbook (LCH).
- Liaison with CNSC staff regarding the various site license fee activities.
- Organizing site visits of regulators by coordinating the proper security clearances, escorts, access, transportation and catering and assist in the development of key messages for the smooth running of the events.
- Assisting all CNL staff with TRAK/ATOM queries.
- Frequenting monitoring of the >CR Licensing mailbox for CNSC letters and ensuring they are filed in ATOM.
- Providing services to CNL staff for distribution of documents through the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) server to CNSC staff.
- Providing oversight to regulatory commitments to responsible managers and timely review of outgoing/incoming correspondence.
- Managing Regulatory Affairs myCNL website and SharePoint site.
- Overseeing the work of and/or train student branch members to ensure continuity and consistency of work.
- Providing backup support to other sections, or similar roles within the same section ensuring timely support to clients. Participates in special projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent knowledge earned through a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience
- Experience with Regulatory Affairs, communicating with Regulators and knowledge of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act and General Nuclear Safety and Control Regulations.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to comprehend or be cognizant of a broad range of technological and/or business issues.
- Knowledge of CNL's practices, procedures and organization is required.
- Ability to work under pressure and with conflicting priorities.
- Good understanding of programs and facilities at CNL.
- Good knowledge of Regulatory Documents, Management System document hierarchy and CSA standards pertaining to CNL.
- Computer skills including a good working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CNL internal applications such as ATOM, ActionWay, and SharePoint.
- Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required.
- Previous work in the nuclear sector is considered as an asset.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location :
This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River site, however the primary work location will be remote. Although this role is considered to be fully remote, presence at the Chalk River site may be needed on occasion and will be determined by the manager, based on internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
